Discrimination, Harassment & Retaliation, Sexual Misconduct Report

The purpose of this report is to advise the University's Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance (OIEC) of concerns related to Discrimination, Harassment, or Retaliation. Consistent with Board Policy 1-1-508 and applicable Federal and State law, the Discrimination Complaint Procedures of the University of Northern Colorado ("DCP") apply to all Complaints of Discrimination, Harassment and/or Retaliation with respect to students, faculty and/or staff.

If the concern you wish to report is an emergency, or if a crime has been committed, please contact 911 or University Police at 970-351-2245.

• “Discrimination” occurs when you are treated differently because of your membership in a protected category (e.g., race, gender, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation or other protected characteristic).

• “Harassment” occurs when you are subjected to unwelcome conduct based upon a protected class where those actions are severe or repeated such that they create an intimidating, hostile or abusive work or educational environment.

• “Retaliation” occurs when an adverse action was taken against you because you have filed a complaint, in good faith, about Discrimination or Harassment or because you have provided information, in good faith, about another person’s complaint of Discrimination or Harassment.

• “Sexual Misconduct” includes but is not limited to sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, and sexual exploitation. Sexual misconduct may vary in its severity and consists of a range of behaviors or attempted behaviors. It can occur between strangers or acquaintances, or people in intimate and/or long-term relationships. Sexual misconduct can occur between members of the same or different gender.
